Who we are. ChewySinew is published by Ricky Went trading as Wombat Logic, ABN 17 141 560 070, Queensland, Australia, a sole trader. Contact: hello@chewysinew.com. We are a very small business; we comply with the Australian Privacy Principles as if they applied to us in full.
The short version
- Everything you enter stays on your phone. There is no account, no server, and the app never sends anything to us.
- If you turn on Android's backup, Android keeps an encrypted copy in your own Google account. We cannot read it. You can turn it off in your phone's settings.
- You can export everything at any time, and delete everything with two taps in Settings.
What the app stores, and why
| Information | Why the app asks for it | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Age band, height, weight, waist, body-fat estimate, steps, days and minutes you can train, lifting history | To choose a program and set targets | Your phone only |
| Your answers to the health screening questions: high blood pressure, medications by class (for example water tablets, beta-blockers), a treated thyroid condition, GLP-1 or GIP medication, joints to protect | To choose safer exercises, rep ranges and rest; to hide options that are not appropriate | Your phone only |
| Blood-pressure readings you choose to enter | To set the day's rules from the bands the app explains | Your phone only |
| Every set you log, weigh-ins, body-composition readings you enter, tape measurements, pain scores | To suggest loads, show trends and the weekly report | Your phone only |
| Your consent to the health questions, with its version and date | So we can show that you agreed, and to what | Your phone only |
| Whether you purchased the Pro unlock | To unlock features; the purchase itself is handled by Google Play | Your phone; Google Play holds the purchase record under Google's own privacy policy |
The health information above is sensitive information under Australian law. We collect it only with your explicit consent, given on the screen that asks for it, and we use it for no other purpose. The app does not infer or record any diagnosis, and it does not give medical advice.
What we do not do
- No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking of any kind.
- No account, no login, no server of ours. The app works with the network off.
- We never see your data. We could not hand it over if asked, because we do not have it.
- No automated decision has a legal or similarly significant effect on you. The app's suggestions (loads, rest, calorie band) are guidance you can override on the screen where they appear.
Backups
Android can back up the app's data to your Google account (Settings → Google → Backup on your phone). On Android 12 and later the app only allows this when the backup is end-to-end encrypted with your screen lock; the copy in Google Drive cannot be read by Google or by us. On Android 9 to 11 the backup is encrypted with your Google account credentials. Turning backup off, or deleting the app's data, also removes the backup on the next backup cycle. Your own exports (Settings → Your data) are files you control.
Your rights
You can see everything the app holds about you by opening it; export it (JSON backup or spreadsheets); correct it by editing; and delete it entirely with Settings → Delete all my data. Because we hold nothing, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf.
If you live in the EU, UK or another place whose law gives you rights over personal data, those rights apply. Our legal basis for handling health information is your explicit consent, which you can withdraw by deleting your data. [Decision pending: whether the app is distributed in the EU/UK at launch.]
Complaints
Write to hello@chewysinew.com first; we reply within three business days. If we cannot resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes
We will post any change here with a new version and date. A change that broadens what the app stores or does with health information will ask for your consent again inside the app.
